About The Position

Acts as a liaison between Shoreline Behavioral Health Services and Grand Strand Medical Center (GSMC) Emergency Department to coordinate services for emergency room patients identified as having a substance use disorder. Provides and coordinates referrals, assists clients, provides health education to clients on topics such as substance use and provides case management services. Documents all attempts to link clients to care, conducts surveys at prescribed intervals, facilitates transportation for clients as needed and works closely with both Shoreline and emergency department staff. This is a full-time, grant-funded position, and will be initially located at Shoreline Behavioral Health Services in Conway. Once properly credentialed through GSMC, the candidate will then be located full-time in the GSMC Emergency Department. NOTE: Once located in the GSMC Emergency Department, the ideal candidate must be available nights and weekends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Must be in recovery with at least 1 year of abstinence/sobriety
  • Requires basic computer skills and ability to accurately collect and report data
  • Must be compassionate and nonjudgmental
  • Must be culturally competent
  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Peer Support Credentials preferred
  • Previous experience with SUD and mental health clients preferred
