JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Pediatric Hematology/Oncology • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Charleston, WV • Service Setting: Hospital • Coverage Type: Clinical + Call • Coverage Period: June 18, 2026 – July 13, 2026 • Clinical Shift Schedule: 4 half-day clinics per week (7:00 AM – 1:00 PM) • On-Call Shift Schedule: 24/7 call coverage for inpatient service and ED • Call Type: Inpatient + ED Call • Call Ratio: Continuous during assignment PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Pediatric patients • Patient Volume/Census: 4–8 patients per clinic; 5–10 infusion patients per week; 0–3 inpatient consults per day • Admissions: Included • Rounding: Included • Phone Consults: Included • Case Mix: Pediatric hematology and oncology including infusion care and inpatient consults FACILITY INFORMATION • Trauma Level: Level I • EMR System: Cerner • Office Equipment Available: Infusion center and inpatient pediatric services • Specialty Backup Available: Endocrinology, nephrology, cardiology, and other subspecialties • Support Staff Available: 1 APP and infusion nursing staff • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (IMLC or temp license) • Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 60 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Rate: TBD • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Not Specified REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Lumbar puncture (LP) • Bone marrow biopsy JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: State license required or willingness to obtain (IMLC or temp license accepted) • Board: Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology • DEA: Required • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS • Other Qualifications: Comfortable managing inpatient and infusion center pediatric oncology patients DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide outpatient pediatric hematology/oncology clinic coverage • Manage infusion center patients and treatments • Perform inpatient consults and participate in hospital service • Provide 24/7 call coverage for inpatient and ED needs • Perform required procedures including LP and bone marrow biopsy • Collaborate with multidisciplinary pediatric team • Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner EMR
Requirements
- State license required or willingness to obtain (IMLC or temp license accepted)
- Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
- DEA: Required
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Comfortable managing inpatient and infusion center pediatric oncology patients
