Requirements

  • Education Required - High School diploma or equivalent
  • Work Experience Required - 1 year experience in a customer service related field required, experience working independently as well as with a team, and working effectively under stress required
  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to remain calm, pleasant, and helpful under pressure and stressful situations
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Good time management skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients/family members with a smile and pleasantness.
  • Answers all incoming calls quickly and with a pleasant voice, always identifying self and hospital name clearly.
  • Directs patients and guests to appropriate area.
  • Reviews census to have knowledge of patient's location.
  • Verifies and registers vendors per policy.
  • Reviews all codes regularly and be ready to call codes as directed or per policy.
  • Pages/beeps as per policy, including but not limited to providers on call.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
