PBB and BHS Jr. Technician
About The Position
JSM Airport Services, LLC is seeking a highly motivated PBB/BHS Jr. Technician. This is a career-track opportunity, and we are looking for an individual ready to commit to a long-term professional future with our company, with an expected commitment of at least 1 year. The PBB and BHS Jr. Technician is an entry-level position with varied responsibilities, including, but not limited to, the maintenance of the airport's Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB) and Baggage Handling Systems (BHS). The primary function of this position is to provide electro-mechanical operational, preventative, and emergency maintenance support.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or General Educational Development (GED) required
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Must possess at least 1(+) year of mechanical work experience
- Must be able to read and interpret repair manuals and basic mechanical schematics
- Must be able to work as scheduled (this is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation). Holidays will be included if they fall on a scheduled workday. Shift assignments are based on the airport and company requirements, as well as a technician's strengths, skill set, and experience. Our technicians are expected to be flexible in terms of prospective shift assignments.
- The applicant must be able to successfully pass a drug screen (we promote/maintain a Drug Free Workplace), a driver's license check, a background check, and required federal fingerprinting, security threat assessment, as well as airport security badging, for continued employment.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, which will include, but will not be limited to, cleaning of passenger boarding bridges and surrounding areas, as well as the removal of debris from between bridges
- Inspect all curbside and ticket counter hardware, cladding, and belts
- Check all BHS belts, motors, power turns, carousels
- Be able to analyze a situation in order to provide the best possible solution
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, which will include, but not limited to, cleaning of conveyor and surrounding areas, removal of debris from between conveyors, removal and replacement of conveyor covers for inspection and cleaning, and the recognition of potential issues through audial and visual inspection
- Diagnose equipment failures under the guidance of senior staff
- Make minor adjustments to ensure system functionality and reliability pertaining to both electrical and mechanical items
- Work with a variety of tools/hand tools safely and properly, as well as utilize any/all appropriate safety and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Clear and reset baggage handling system jams in a safe and efficient manner
- Attend requested/required training, while demonstrating a willingness to learn
- Ensure possession of proper tools (including lockout/tag out) and keys when responding to E-Calls for maximum efficiency and response time
- Assist Technicians and Sr Technicians with E-Calls
- Assist in the replacement and/or adjustments of components, including, but not limited to, bearing, motors reducers, and belts
- Effectively communicate with Senior Technicians and/or Supervisory team when necessary
- Safety and compliance training as required
- Perform other reasonable ancillary duties to support the operation and our customer
