About The Position

In this role, the successful candidate as the Payroll Tax Analyst will understand the laws and regulations concerning payroll taxes, payroll administration, and have an overall knowledge of payroll deductions and payroll processing. The Tax analyst must keep accurate records of Federal, State and Local Tax. They must work closely with our Tax Service provider to ensure all taxes are paid timely and accurately and to work with our treasury department to coordinate funds availability and payment. They must stay updated on any new states or territories that the Medical Center does business in and ensure we get registered for both tax payments and Unemployment Insurance. They will be responsible for W2 and 1042 filings at year end by ensuring all adjustments are made and reports balance, and ensure timely submission of these files to our Tax Provider. The Tax Analyst will prepare monthly metrics to be sent to Payroll Management and the Payroll team for review.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree Required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • The Payroll Tax Analyst should exhibit sound knowledge of Payroll Practices, Policy and Procedures and exhibit strong research skills.
  • The tax analyst must have strong written and verbal skills.
  • They will have the ability to analyze data, identify key trends, and build clear, insightful reports.
  • The ideal candidate should be able to present this information in a way that highlights actionable insights and supports data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience in PeopleSoft or other Payroll System reporting is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • FPC or CPP certification preferred.
  • Understanding of Foreign National taxation and experience in maintaining a third party taxation database for Foreign Nationals preferred.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Keep abreast of legislative updates that affect payroll/tax regulatory compliance
  • Review Federal, State and local payroll tax returns, quarterly estimates, extensions, and final returns to ensure the timely and accurate completion of all reconciliation activities.
  • Ensures accurate, timely payroll tax preparation, reconciling the reporting/submission of monthly, quarterly and annual withholding and unemployment returns.
  • Audits and reconciles daily payroll reports to daily tax reports ensuring adequate payment of liabilities.
  • Provides project management oversight for all phases of the W-2 year end processing, including coordination to ensure year end processing is on schedule.
  • Manage tax related tasks for Foreign National employees
  • Assists in all tax related audits either internally or externally
  • Proactively research and recommend best practices to optimize payroll tax processes
  • Continually audit employee tax records in order to identify and fix incorrect tax setups prior to the payroll process
  • Maintains relationships with tax vendors
  • Researches and responds to questions from the field regarding tax issues
  • Assists in system testing software upgrades for all tax updates
