Position Summary At Vero Biotech, innovation drives us. We are a rapidly growing life sciences company developing cutting-edge solutions like the GENOSYL® DS, the first FDA-approved tankless inhaled nitric oxide delivery system. We are seeking a flexible and highly motivated Payroll Specialist to support our growing team. This role focuses on payroll accuracy, compliance, cross-functional collaboration, and financial support within the organization.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, HR, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience with Paycom payroll software preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi task and work independently in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle payroll using Paycom or ERP payroll module.
  • Audit timekeeping data for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and status changes.
  • Validate commissions, bonuses, overtime, and special payroll entries.
  • Ensure payroll complies with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Assist with payroll tax filings, quarterly reporting, and year-end W-2 processes.
  • Support internal and external audits through preparation of required reports and documentation.
  • Assist with 1099 processing when applicable.
  • Process and reconcile benefit deductions including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, and 401(k).
  • Ensure benefit enrollments and changes are accurately reflected in payroll.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
  • Collaborate closely with HR team members to support daily operations and initiatives.
  • Communicate and reconcile payroll or HR-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills across teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on monthly close processes, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assist in variance analysis and budget tracking to provide financial insights.
  • Help develop reports supporting financial planning and strategic decisions.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Accounting and Finance team members.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll processes, policies, and related regulations.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll data and maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously with a high level of efficiency and organization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll workflows, system functionality, and internal controls.
