About The Position

Join a mission-driven team where your accuracy makes an impact. We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support our Finance team with accurate and timely payroll processing. This is a part-time role ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, values precision, and is comfortable managing payroll processes in a collaborative environment. Position Overview The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll and ensuring accuracy in wages, taxes, deductions, and reporting. This role also serves as a key resource for payroll-related questions and works closely with our payroll provider to ensure smooth operations. This position is part-time, working approximately 20-25 hours per week, with eligibility for a hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with payroll systems such as Paycor or Paylocity preferred

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy of wages, tax withholdings, deductions, and benefit contributions
  • Review and validate payroll data for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Support SCSEP payroll processing as needed
  • Generate routine and ad hoc payroll reports, including quarterly and year-end reporting
  • Respond to employee and external inquiries such as wage verifications, garnishments, and deduction changes
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the payroll provider to resolve issues and maintain system accuracy
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
  • Assist with audits and other finance-related reporting as needed
