About The Position

Seeking payroll professional to ensure accurate and timely processing of office and union payroll for multiple companies in multiple states. The payroll specialist ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local wage and hour policies and employment tax laws. Performs action necessary to determine pay and deductions including Federal and State taxes, benefit, retirement, union dues, and other deductions. Analyze payroll problems, determine corrective action, and implement solutions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, and two to four years payroll experience required, union and construction experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required, Strong Excel skills preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with UKG, SharePoint, Timeclock Plus and Microsoft 365 a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and enters weekly and biweekly timesheet information for two companies and approximately 1200.
  • Process weekly and biweekly payroll for union and office employees per deadlines imposed by company policy and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Process additional payroll runs as needed for corrections, Layoffs, terminations, and special pay. This process is inclusive of but not limited to data entry of timesheets, importing time clock data, calculating payroll, and processing direct deposits.
  • Process routine weekly and monthly reports as required by office and field personnel.
  • Update and maintain accounting and payroll system with accurate and timely union and tax information.
  • Manage payroll inbox and postal mail.
  • Respond to inquiries, problems, and requests for information from internal and external sources including employment verifications, unemployment questionnaires and audits.
  • Update employee information in the system as needed including address, direct deposit, and tax changes.
  • Process and reconcile child support, garnishment and levy payments per request and update, as necessary.
  • Process and distribute required weekly certified payroll reports.
  • Set up new employees in the system and assist in employee file creation.
  • Maintains confidentiality of payroll operations and sensitive employee information.
  • Assists Payroll Manager with special projects and assigned tasks.
