About The Position

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage the full-cycle payroll function for approximately 300 employees. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while maintaining strong internal controls and delivering exceptional employee support. In addition, the position supports the Accounts Payable function (approximately 20% of the role), including reviewing and coding invoices, processing vendor payments, reconciling statements, maintaining vendor records, and assisting with month-end close. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate combines technical payroll expertise with a hands-on approach and the ability to improve processes as the organization grows. This position is on a hybrid telecommute model out of our Reston, VA location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of payroll experience, preferably supporting 200+ employees.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and tax regulations.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, Workday, UKG, or similar platforms.
  • Solid understanding of payroll accounting and general ledger reconciliation.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and process semi-monthly payroll for approximately 300 employees.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, benefit deductions, and garnishments.
  • Review and validate payroll data prior to submission.
  • Manage payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, and compensation adjustments.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping system integration, if applicable.
  • Maintain and manage employee and subcontractor time records.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations (multi-state experience preferred).
  • Manage payroll tax filings, payments, and reconciliations via ADP Portal.
  • Oversee year-end processes, including W-2 and 1099 preparation and distribution.
  • Maintain payroll policies and ensure adherence to internal controls.
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
  • Partner with Finance during month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare payroll reports, headcount reports, and labor cost analysis as requested.
  • Administer payroll system and ensure proper functionality and data integrity.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation of payroll procedures and workflows.
  • May supervise or mentor payroll staff or payroll specialists.
  • Partner closely with HR and Finance to ensure accurate employee data and benefits administration.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries.
