About The Position

We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Manager to own and operate all aspects of payroll and benefits administration across Campus. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll processing while designing and managing a competitive, cost-effective benefits program. This is a highly hands-on role with full ownership of systems (Rippling) and benefits strategy. This role sits on the Finance Team, reports directly to the CFO, and works closely with the People team.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in payroll and/or benefits administration
  • Strong hands-on experience managing payroll systems — Rippling strongly preferred
  • Experience managing benefits programs and leading vendor negotiations
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance
  • High attention to detail and strong operational rigor
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Own Payroll Operations
  • Run end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, including full-time staff and faculty
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Manage payroll through Rippling, including audits, reporting, and system optimization
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data
  • Collaborate on budgeting and forecasting for payroll
  • Lead Benefits Administration
  • Own the full benefits portfolio — health, dental, vision, retirement, and more
  • Lead the annual benefits renewal process, including broker and vendor negotiations
  • Manage benefits enrollment, changes, and employee communications
  • Optimize benefits offerings to balance employee experience with cost discipline
  • Support leadership with insights on compensation and benefits trends
  • Drive Systems & Compliance
  • Serve as primary administrator for Rippling (HRIS + payroll) and Fidelity (401k)
  • Ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Support reporting, reconciliations, audits, and payroll-related forecasting
  • Assist with equity-related administration in partnership with Carta, as needed
