This position has a hybrid work schedule with three days/week working in the office in downtown Richmond, VA. The Payroll Services Bureau (PSB) at the Department of Accounts (DOA) is seeking a qualified individual for a Payroll and Benefits Analyst position. DOA's mission is to provide a uniform system of accounting, financial reporting, and internal control adequate to protect and account for the Commonwealth's financial resources, while supporting and enhancing the recognition of Virginia as the best managed state in the union. Job Duties This position independently performs the processing, analysis and reconciliation responsibilities associated with the administration of the payroll and benefits accounting functions for a high volume of employees assigned agencies. Processes complex payroll, benefits, and leave transactions for multiple salaried and wage payroll certifications each scheduled pay period; reviews reports to ensure accurate exceptional item processing and makes necessary updates; handles court-ordered withholdings, direct deposits, tax withholding, voluntary deductions; prepares payments for distribution to assigned agencies and third parties; pursues collection of overpayments; audits and processes leave payouts; analyzes and resolves exceptions; performs monthly reconciliations; produces reports for agency monitor responsibilities; assists with annual leave liability analysis; files associated documents; and provides excellent customer service.
