About The Position

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Assist s with bi - weekly and monthly payroll processing responsibilities during the pre and post process by reviewing assigned duties and taking corrective action as needed. 2. Review s and audit s payroll a nd system - generated reports/registers to ensure accuracy, reaso nableness and appropriate ness of deducti ons calculated for each pay cycle. 3. Review s Kronos timekeeping system timecards for approvals and perform s approval sign off functions prior to Kronos timekeeping system extract. 4. Complete s Kronos timekeeping system extract, load s extract information to Work day payroll system, review s and resolve s discrepancies or errors, if any , for each pay cycle . 5. Coordinate s and confirm s direct deposit transmissions to the bank. Resolve s payroll system er ror messages related to on cycle payroll processing. 6. Perform s payroll gross to net calculations for wages, overtime, manual checks including the impact of taxable benefits, pre and post - tax deductions. 7. Demonstrates an understanding of Payroll and B enefit s polices. Stay s abreast of state and federal labor, tax and garnishment laws. 8. Provide s exceptional customer service and follow s through on all issues and inquiries received in a timely and accurate manner. Addresses basic i ssues and inquiries . 9. Audit s , research es and resolve s cases assigned from HR Information Systems for all payroll related issues. 10. Provide s Workday and Kronos timekeeping system and clock troubleshooting support. 11. Complete s testing for system upgrades and enhancements (UAT). 12. Provide s back up coverage, in th e absence of the payroll manager for payroll processing, payroll journal entries and batch approvals for release to the General Ledger; prepares and submits federal tax payments; extracts hours from multiple time - tracking systems. 13. Present s at relevant webinars and training sessions . E nsure s adherence to departmental standards and controls. Assist with ad hoc payroll projects 14. Adheres to University and unit - level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets . Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Profic iency in computer software ( i.e., Microsoft Office
