About The Position

As a Payroll Administrator, you will own end-to-end payroll operations, tax compliance, and accurate employee compensation using Workday. You will drive operational excellence by leveraging data and system expertise to ensure timely, compliant payroll delivery while supporting a premium employee pay experience during periods of growth. LOCATION : Portland, OR SALARY : $50+/hr. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing high-volume payroll operations within a fast-paced organization.
  • Action-oriented, resilient, and results-driven professional who takes ownership, maintains accountability, and performs effectively under pressure.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Workday Payroll, including configuration, settlement runs, payroll accounting, and system optimization.
  • Deep technical expertise in U.S. payroll tax legislation, with hands-on experience navigating complex multi-state compliance, year-end processes, and audits.
  • Highly collaborative and analytical, with a c ontinuous-improvement mindset and the ability to translate complex payroll data into actionable insights in a matrixed environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Payroll experience in Canada and Brazil a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and audit payroll cycles in Workday, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely pay across complex regulatory environments.
  • Own end-to-end payroll tax compliance, including registrations, filings, reconciliations, and year-end activities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with People Systems and Finance to optimize Workday Payroll configurations and ensure seamless data flow across HCM, Benefits, and Payroll.
  • Manage complex statutory deductions, tax inputs, and regulatory reporting requirements, serving as the primary contact for audits, tax authorities, and external vendors.
  • Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and advanced payroll reporting to support scalability and data-informed decision-making.
