About The Position

As our Payroll Accounting Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our 275 employees across the US, support our UKG Ready implementation, and collaborate across departments to improve payroll and AP efficiencies. You will partner with our accounting, HR, and operations teams to effectively deliver great results in this critical area. This temporary Payroll Accounting Specialist role requires someone who can immediately step into their responsibilities as we implement UKG Ready. This role is intended to be an onsite full-time hourly position, based at our Alexandria Virginia offices, and reports to the Controller.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with UKG Ready, including involvement during system implementation or upgrades
  • Associate's Degree or above in a related field, payroll professional certification, or equivalent experience demonstrating knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and practices
  • Working knowledge of Accounts Payable processes
  • Construction or project related industry experience in a related role
  • Intermediate skills with Excel and importing data across systems
  • Proficiency with general payroll/finance systems and MS Office, including with email, SharePoint, and Word
  • Proficiency in English, written and spoken.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • A positive "no job is too big or too small" attitude
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry 15 - 30 lbs., regularly walk, and occasionally climb stairs

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely using UKG Ready, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies
  • Assist in the ongoing implementation and optimization of UKG Ready features and workflows
  • Assist the Accounting Department with payroll-related reconciliations, including benefits, taxes, and expenses
  • Process new hires, terminations, and other applicable personnel changes
  • Collaborate during payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting cycles
  • Support cross-functional AP duties, including credit card processing and review.
  • Troubleshoot payroll issues and respond to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive financial and employee data.
