Payroll Accountant

Veritas HHS LLCDenver, CO
4h$85,000 - $95,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Payroll Accountant is responsible for the accounting and analytical functions related to payroll, benefits, and employee expense programs. This is not a payroll processing role - payroll operations are managed by HR. This position ensures that payroll data ties to the general ledger, monitors tax compliance across multiple states, and provides the reconciliation and analysis that keeps financial reporting accurate as the company grows. This role also manages garnishments and wage attachments at scale. Approximately 7% of our current workforce has an active garnishment, and that number is expected to grow as we expand into new states. Many of our employees work in economically underserved areas, and accurate, timely garnishment processing has a direct impact on their financial well-being.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experiences in payroll accounting, payroll tax, or a closely related function
  • Experience reconciling payroll to a general ledger in a multi-state environment
  • Working knowledge of federal and state payroll tax requirements including 941s, SUI, and local taxes
  • Experience with garnishment processing and wage attachment compliance
  • Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, logical functions)
  • Comfort working in an ERP environment (we use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Paylocity)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, work in a team environment, interest in team mentorship, and commitment to department and organizational goals
