Key duties include ensuring complete and accurate patient registration, pre-certification, charge capture, and coding diagnoses provided by physicians. This role involves significant public interaction, requiring excellent interpersonal skills to manage patient financial agreements, process payments, handle billing, and file insurance claims. The representative serves as a liaison between patients and medical support staff, greeting visitors, verifying and updating patient insurance information, and obtaining necessary signatures. They are also responsible for maintaining appointment books, providing front office phone support, screening visitors, and responding to routine information requests. Additional responsibilities include gathering and posting outpatient charges, processing payments, performing cashiering functions, preparing daily cash deposits, and assisting with outpatient coding and error resolution. The role requires updating patient account databases, scheduling various medical services, assembling patient charts, overseeing the waiting area, and assisting patients with questions regarding insurance claims, disability benefits, home health care, medical equipment, and surgical care. Furthermore, the representative processes benefit correspondence, follows up with insurance companies, maintains patient account records, confirms workers' compensation claims, prepares disability claims, and manages medical records, including filing, purging, and creating new charts. They also perform collection actions, evaluate patient financial status, establish payment plans, and identify and resolve patient billing complaints. The position requires participation in educational activities, daily verification and entry of charge and payment information, and maintaining strict confidentiality. As a representative of Prisma Health Clinical Department, the individual is expected to maintain a neat and professional appearance, demonstrate commitment to service, and uphold office manual guidelines.
