The representative serves as a liaison between patients and medical support staff, handles patient check-ins, verifies and updates insurance information, obtains necessary signatures, and assists patients with ambulatory needs. Additional responsibilities include managing appointment schedules, providing phone support, screening visitors, and handling cashiering functions such as daily cash drawer balancing and preparing deposits. The role also involves assisting with outpatient coding and error resolution, updating patient databases, maintaining physician schedules, and coordinating various medical services like surgeries and follow-up appointments. Chart management, including assembling, filing, transporting, and purging medical records, is also a critical component. Furthermore, the representative performs collection actions, establishes payment plans, resolves billing complaints, and processes workers' compensation and disability claims. The position requires maintaining strict confidentiality, a professional appearance, and adherence to office guidelines.
