About The Position

Reporting to the Dental Practice Manager, the PSR is responsible for administering the day-to-day activities of the dental office, including: maintenance of the records of patients, assisting patients in person or on the phone, maintaining the appearance and order of the dental office, and the recall/recare system. As a team member at our health center, you will work with staff who are racially, ethnically and culturally diverse, so being culturally competent is required. Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish/Portuguese and English
  • High school graduate
  • Demonstrated work history of reliability, good attendance, and positive attitude
  • Detail-oriented and thorough
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies – Digium/Switchvox phone system, GE Centricity for medical appointments, Dentrix for dental appointments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse staff and patients
  • Warm and professional telephone manner, good memory, and patience
  • Ability to multitask and follow up to complete tasks
  • Ability to be courteous, efficient, effective, and patient in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain strict adherence to the NSCHI Confidentiality policy
  • Incorporate NSCHI Mission and Values into daily activities
  • Comply with all NSCHI personnel policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Greets incoming patients with a warm, friendly smile
  • Communicate with patients by phone or in person to schedule accurate dental appointments per office policy and procedures.
  • Registers patients by verifying that the patient's record is up to date, accurate, and scanned.
  • Makes appropriate insurance & patient personal data (address & phone number)changes in computer systems and on the patient's chart.
  • Ensures that the patient's medical history is updated yearly.
  • Informs patients of all office policies and protocols.
  • Schedule follow-up/recall appointments, as necessary.
  • Follow up on no-show/cancellation of appointments.
  • Maintain smooth workflow between dentists, assistants, and patients.
  • Complies with federal and local laws in ensuring patient privacy & HIPAA.
  • Relay patient’s complaints (billing, clinical, or otherwise) to the Dental Practice Manager
  • Monitors office supplies and requests office supplies when needed.
  • Discusses and collects fees; issues cash receipts when monies are collected.
  • Confirm the next day’s appointments.
  • Perform various office tasks as necessary and other duties as assigned, such as assisting in treatment rooms as needed.
