About The Position

The Registration/Switchboard Associate is responsible for interviewing and gathering complete and accurate data to complete the admission/registration process accurately and efficiently in a courteous and professional manner. Obtains appropriate signatures, notifies patients/guest of hospital regulations, policies and services. Maintain patients right to privacy and confidentiality. The Registration/Switchboard Associate is responsible for operating a multi-line, multi-extension switchboard, performs pages on the intercom and radio systems, and monitors all in-house alarms. Position Accountabilities Responsible for interviewing patients or their representative, obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers, insurance and employment information. Responsible for obtaining and witnessing signatures on conditions of admission and initiating the advance directive process. Mains privacy and confidentiality of all patients by actions and words. Operates multi-line, multi-extension switchboard, processing all incoming and outgoing communications in a timely and efficient manner. Operates hospital paging and radio systems. Takes messages, answers questions, and written documentation when appropriate. Monitor hospital alarms, and when necessary be able to react in an appropriate manner when activated according to hospital policy. Mains message and key log. Cross-trains within the department to effectively handle the functions of pre-admissions, outpatients, outpatient care physicians, emergency registration, and switchboard functions. Demonstrates good communication and organizational skills with patients, coworkers, physicians, ancillary personnel, and the community. Meets and greets every quest with an immediate smile, eye contact, proper body language, and an appropriate greeting. Performs other job related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • The position is open to candidates 18 years or older with a high school diploma (or equivalent) OR currently enrolled in High School.
  • Applicant must have excellent interpersonal skills, analytical skills, verbal communication skills, ability to follow oral and written instructions, and ability to work independently.
  • The position requires corrected vision, hearing, legible writing, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, speaking, lifting, and reaching on a frequent or repetitive basis.
  • Must be able sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Candidates must be able to tolerate stressful work situattions, understand they may be exposed to various pathogens, and may be exposed to unpleasant patients, family members, and emergency situations.
