About The Position

One Health is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor who is compassionate, detail‑oriented, and committed to supporting patients through financial conversations, assistance programs, and billing navigation. What You’ll Do: Serve as a welcoming first point of contact, meeting with patients in person or virtually to address billing questions, payment plans, financial concerns, and insurance benefits. Assist patients with SFDP applications and renewals; process, track, and update applications in the EHR while communicating status, requirements, and next steps. Identify past‑due accounts and coordinate financial solutions such as payment plans, hardship options, and collections processes, including generating letters and submitting accounts to agencies. Collaborate across departments and provide staff guidance on SFDP, collections, and financial policies. Protect patient confidentiality by safeguarding all financial and medical information in compliance with HIPAA. Support performance improvement, compliance, and risk‑management activities while promoting a positive, patient-centered experience aligned with One Health’s mission.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Strong customer service mindset with empathy and professionalism
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • License: Valid Driver’s License
  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • 2 yrs experience in healthcare billing, financial counseling, or patient services
  • Familiarity with collections and insurance verification processes
  • Experience working in healthcare
