This position plays a critical role in supporting the Patient Access and Revenue Cycle teams by leveraging Epic data to ensure patient and financial information is accurate, complete, and optimized for reporting and daily operations. The analyst collaborates closely with front-end teams, Health Information Management (HIM), patient access, billing, and IT partners to understand data capture processes, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and address issues at their source. As a hands-on analyst, this role is focused on mastering Epic data structures, validating data integrity in reports, and providing actionable insights for operational teams. Responsibilities include writing and troubleshooting SQL queries, reconciling Epic data with downstream datasets, and driving improvements in how Patient Access and Revenue Cycle teams rely on and utilize their data effectively.

Requirements

  • Epic Data Knowledge: Familiarity with Epic workflows related to registration, demographics, scheduling, and revenue cycle.
  • SQL Skills: Ability to write clear, efficient SQL queries for reporting and data validation.
  • Data Problem Solving: Comfortable digging into data to understand “why the numbers don’t look right.”
  • Attention to Detail: Able to spot inconsistencies in patient and financial data.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Explains data findings in plain language to non‑technical teams.
  • Version Awareness: Basic understanding of how query or report changes are tracked and managed.
  • Hands‑on SQL experience required.
  • Epic certification in Prelude, Ambulatory, Cadence, Healthy Planet, or MyChart required.

  • Relevant Work Experience Experience Level: 2 years

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Epic Clarity or Epic reporting structures preferred.
  • Interest in learning how data supports Patient Access and Revenue Cycle operations.
  • Comfortable balancing multiple requests and supporting operational reporting needs.
  • Project Management Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Data Review & Validation Review patient, registration, demographic, and encounter data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify trends or recurring data issues that impact reporting or workflows.
  • Issue Investigation Research data issues reported by Patient Access, Rev Cycle, or reporting teams.
  • Trace problems back to source workflows, configurations, or mappings and recommend fixes.
  • Operational Collaboration Partner with registration, HIM, scheduling, and billing teams to understand how data is entered and used.
  • Translate operational workflows into reporting logic and data requirements.
  • Reporting & Query Support Help develop, in collaboration with other analytics teams, actionable dashboards and visualizations suitable for executive consumption
  • Develop monitoring tools to ensure epic applications are performing as expected
  • Write and maintain SQL queries to support operational and revenue cycle reporting.
  • Help validate reports by comparing Epic source data to reporting datasets.
  • Data Flow Awareness Understand how Epic data moves into analytic environments (e.g., Clarity or Databricks).
  • Assist with basic validation of extracts, transformations, and mappings.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing Document common data definitions, known issues, and reporting logic.
  • Help train operational partners on data quality basics and reporting best practices.
