The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. We champion being a collaborative health care organization, focused on improving patient care and the lives of Arkansans. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs patient care tasks and duties, which do not require a license. The PCT is a trained member of the unit-based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary patient management team in UAMS Neurosciences Service Line. The PCT conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs (i.e. pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on the patients’ Electronic Medical Record (EMR). S/He draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
