About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs patient care tasks and duties, which do not require a license. The PCT is a trained member of the unit-based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary patient management team in UAMS Neurosciences Service Line. The PCT conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs (i.e. pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on the patients’ Electronic Medical Record (EMR). S/He draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • CPR Certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman.
  • Patient care experience in acute/outpatient care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
  • Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed
  • Documents patient care activities/tasks, including vital signs, activities of daily life (ADL), wave tests, and input and output (I&Os)
  • Monitors and maintains adequate levels of supplies inside and outside of rooms.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examinations
  • Perform other duties as needed.
