Job Summary With a commitment to patient and family centered care, the Virtual Safety Associate (Patient Care Tech) plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety through continuous observation and support. This role involves monitoring up to 12 patients at a time via large video screens, identifying abnormal behaviors or safety risks, and escalating concerns to the care team promptly. While primarily virtual, this position may require direct patient interaction when needed. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the associate supports safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous related healthcare experience preferred
  • CNA or Patient Care Technician (PCT) licensure preferred
  • Prior Virtual Patient Care Technician experience required
  • Ability to monitor up to 12 patients simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize abnormal patient conditions
  • Comfortable with technology, including Zoom and basic troubleshooting
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to de-escalate patients who are agitated in a way that preserves patient dignity required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of Standard Precautions

  • Previous experience in the clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Recognizes the patients, their family/designated care partner(s) in providing safe, compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values.
  • Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patient, family and designated care partners.
  • Provides observation for safety of assigned patient.
  • Reports observations of changes in patient condition or behavior to appropriate staff.
  • Completes required reports and documentation
  • Provide virtual patient observation (bedside monitoring rather than in-person standing care)
  • Support patient triage and IV monitoring as applicable
  • Observe patient and family interactions and identify abnormal findings
  • Promptly activate alarms to notify on-site clinical staff when concerns arise
