About The Position

Overview The Patient Appointing Technician (PAT) shall schedule appointments in the Composite Health Care System (CHCS)/Armed Forces Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) for primary, specialty and subspecialty medical care. The PAT shall perform the appointment process to include scheduling, rescheduling, and/or cancelling appointments as needed, including appointments for consult/referral specialty care in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), a civilian facility, via telephone or secure messaging. PAT responsibilities also include facilitating the recapture of MTF direct care capabilities, tracking the referral to closure, and returning all results of treatment to a clear, legible, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant report of the patient’s medical record (CLR).

Requirements

  • Must have experience in a customer service-related industry. Training and experience in medical office scheduling preferred.
  • Experience with computers and keyboarding skills (or alternate technology that facilitates computer keyboarding/data input).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products desired (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a position of public trust vetting.
  • Must be able to pass a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
  • U.S. Citizenship (required per government contract)
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary computer position for extended periods.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to type.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms for using a computer.

Nice To Haves
