About The Position

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures.

Requirements

An associate degree in clinical laboratory technology and certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Certifying agency (NCA). If not certified, must be registry eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first year of employment.
Minimum of 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures.
Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures.
Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
Performs quality control and assurance procedures.
Records lab results in specified system.
Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
Pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing in the Fast Flow Lab.
Data entry of client demographic information and test orders into the laboratory computer system
Perform and interpret analysis on clinical specimens submitted for testing.
Performs quality control and maintenance procedures.
Evaluate new methodologies.
Train new personnel/students
Perform other duties as required.
