About The Position

This position is for a Patient Access Coordinator in Medical Imaging at Overlake Medical Center, a 349-bed, nonprofit regional medical center. The role involves providing exemplary customer service to Imaging patients and visitors, interviewing patients to gather complete demographic and financial data for registration, collecting appropriate payments, obtaining required signatures, and notifying patients/guests of hospital regulations, policies, and services. The center employs nearly 3,000 people and has approximately 1,000 active and courtesy providers on its medical staff. Overlake was the first Level III Trauma Center on the Eastside and is led by a volunteer board of trustees. The organization also produces a community health needs assessment (CHNA) and Implementation Strategy to outline how the hospital will give back to the community in the form of health care and other community health services to address unmet community needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous admission/registration experience or previous physician office, hospital or other frontline customer contact experience in a business setting
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to interview, educate and advise patients of hospital policies
  • Professionalism to positively interact with other Overlake personnel
  • Outstanding professionalism, poise and tact in appearance, manner and personality
  • Knowledge of the financial requirements of insurances, HMO and PPO organizations and state and federal programs
  • Must be articulate and skilled in teaching patients how to access the healthcare system
  • Ability to type 50 WPM and use 10-key accurately
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital processes required
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced area, where the performance and concentration of several tasks may be required simultaneously
  • Proof of full COVID-19 immunization as a condition of employment (after October 18, 2021)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Formal training in medical terminology, hospital finance and customer relations is a plus
