About The Position

Welcome to a medical center where you're the center of attention. This role is responsible for exemplary customer service in greeting and orientation of patients and visitors to the hospital. The Patient Access Coordinator interviews patients for complete demographic and financial data to accurately, efficiently, and promptly complete the registration process. They also collect appropriate monies, obtain necessary signatures, and inform patients/guests of hospital regulations, policies, and services. Overlake Medical Center is a 349-bed, nonprofit regional medical center offering a full range of advanced medical services to the Puget Sound region. Led by a volunteer board of trustees, the center employs nearly 3,000 people and has approximately 1,000 active and courtesy providers on its medical staff, including over 200 employed by the organization. Overlake was the first Level III Trauma Center on the Eastside and is recognized for providing award-winning, compassionate, and patient-centered care. The center was founded by community volunteers and continues to rely on volunteer support for its operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Previous admission/registration experience or previous physician office, hospital or other frontline customer contact experience in a business setting
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to interview, educate and advise patients of hospital policies and the professionalism to positively interact with other Overlake personnel
  • Outstanding professionalism, poise and tact in appearance, manner and personality
  • Knowledge of the financial requirements of insurances, HMO and PPO organizations and state and federal programs
  • Must be articulate and skilled in teaching patients how to access the healthcare system
  • Ability to type 50 WPM and use 10-key accurately
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital processes required
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced area, where the performance and concentration of several tasks may be required simultaneously
  • Proof of full COVID-19 immunization as a condition of employment (after October 18, 2021)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Formal training in medical terminology, hospital finance and customer relations a plus

Responsibilities
