About The Position

The Patient Access Rep-Imaging position involves gathering patient demographic and financial information and accurately entering it into the computer system. This role is responsible for assigning patient rooms, preparing necessary documentation, and transporting or escorting patients to their assigned areas. Key duties include obtaining appropriate signatures, answering telephones, managing bed assignments, ordering stat cleans, and communicating with the house supervisor. The representative will also inform patients of hospital regulations, secure armbands, obtain signatures on documents, and determine the need for hospital-issued Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN waiver). Additionally, the role requires meeting and greeting patients, scanning all required information such as physician orders, drivers' licenses, insurance cards, and consents, and pre-registering all scheduled tests. Adherence to all safety, infection control, colleague health policies, HIPAA, and EMTALA regulations is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing job duties.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Windows experience.
  • Database software experience.
  • Mainframe information systems experience.
  • Ability to convey positive image and communicate tactfully and professionally with staff, patients and the public.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Medical Secretary program or other general office training.
  • One-year medical office experience (scheduling, insurance, or registration).
