The Patient Access Associate 2 will be responsible for coordinating patient flow, timely processing, and maintaining knowledge of departmental practices to address patient questions or concerns. This includes understanding insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) pricing, financial assistance options, and overall BHSF Revenue Cycle operations. The role also involves assisting with go-lives and departmental initiatives, including onboarding and training team members, and participating in departmental committees/champion opportunities. The incumbent is expected to practice the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence by providing professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians, and community members.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year Patient Access experience (for internal staff, with demonstrated ability to independently perform all functions within the Level 1 job description; for external staff, with Associates Degree preferred, or 2 years experience in lieu of degree)
  • Meets/exceeds BHSF registration accuracy and productivity standards for at least the most recent 6 months (for internal staff)
  • Exceeds departmental KPIs (for internal staff)
  • Maintains a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and encourages others (for internal staff)
  • Identified as a team player and cross-trained in multiple areas/product lines/practices to substitute all staff positions as needed (for internal staff)
  • Complete and pass the Patient Access training course
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare regulatory guidelines knowledge (HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure, including medical necessity compliance guidelines, etc.)
  • Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations/pre-certifications, Microsoft Office products and EMR applications, etc.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole preferred
