General Summary: Primary responsibilities are to serve as Pathologist on staff at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, including participation in the evaluation and sign out of general pediatric surgical pathology and autopsy specimens. A successful candidate will display excellence in general pediatric surgical pathology, have a record of demonstrated productivity and scholarship, and exhibit a commitment to teaching.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates will possess a DO or MD degree
  • Board Certification in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Pathology (preferred)
  • a medical license, or eligibility for, in the State of Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, responsive, accurate, and effective routine and on-call services as scheduled.
  • Sign out surgical pathology and autopsy reports within the goals set by the department to meet CAP best practices.
  • Actively and collegially participate in the daily functions of the Division of Anatomic Pathology, including providing conferences to clinicians when scheduled, and participating in the daily Quality Conference in a manner that is conducive to providing the highest quality of clinical care.
  • Attend and contribute to the department and institutional educational and clinical conference schedules.
  • Actively support, articulate, and put into practice the Department’s mission, vision, and policies.
  • Conduct your professional affairs such that accurate and timely billing can be accomplished for all clinical activities that are performed.
  • Conduct your professional affairs in a way that minimizes the cost of the services that are provided and creates an optimal balance between cost and intellectual or service return.
  • Support the academic mission of the Department.
  • Provide training and education of medical students, residents and fellows to nurture their academic development by involving them in studies.
