About The Position

SUMMARY Responsibilities include providing evening Help Desk support via phone and in person; maintaining and upgrading lab and classroom equipment including updates, upgrades, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software; enforcing computer policies; assist students with basic computer technology skills; and assist faculty with laptop cart reservations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for maintaining and upgrading lab and classroom equipment Install, troubleshoot, and maintain program & instructor specific software in the open lab Supervise student assistants at the Help Desk as appropriate, particularly regarding use of computing facilities and software Answer Help Desk emails and phone calls and create work orders as needed Other duties as assigned WORK HOURS/SCHEDULE 19 hours per week Normally scheduled hours are Monday-Thursday 4:00PM-8:00PM and Fridays 1:00PM-4:00PM This position will be located at the SPC Lubbock Downtown Center.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or other recognized equivalent, required.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with Microsoft Office products, required.
  • Basic computer skills such as knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and slide presentation packages, required.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional and technical handbooks, technical writings, and/or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to complete record keeping as directed.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in oral and written manner and present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups in a reasonable and helpful manner.
  • Must be able to deal with conflict in a professional and appropriate manner, should it arise.
  • Basic math skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide), required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle situations in a reasonable, logical, and productive fashion.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals in a teaching environment, preferred.
  • Associate degree in CIS (or related field) or higher or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose and perform basic repair on computers and software, preferred.
  • Experience in related tasks, desired.
