The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND. Your Responsibilities As a Part-time Student Supply Management for John Deere Engine Works located in Waterloo, Iowa you will: Communicate with suppliers daily regarding delivery schedules. Manage factory Hot Part Requests, Aged ASN’s, Goods Receipt Compliance Issues and supplier delinquency recovery plans. Work with the Supply Management Specialist to maintain an ongoing relationship with assigned suppliers as well as monitor and improve supplier performance; measure the performance of the supplier and define corrective actions; may negotiate with suppliers to resolve short-term performance problems. Drive continuous improvement in terms of performance with the supply base, using Achieving Excellence process and criteria. Resolve shipping and receiving problems to ensure prompt and accurate payments to suppliers. Gather and analyze data to ensure business objectives are being met. Schedule and expedite the delivery of purchased materials to support the production plan, including recommending premium logistic alternatives when appropriate, while serving as a key resource for company and factory logistics teams, unit operations, and suppliers as questions, concerns, or issues arise regarding logistical processes. This position is not available to students on immigration visas.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Supply Management, Accounting, Operations Management, and Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering. Others may apply
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge in data gathering and root cause analysis
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication.
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local university
  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
  • Graduation date of Spring 2027 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
  • 30 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Basic skills in Microsoft applications, specifically Excel
