About The Position

The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. We are seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach in the following subject areas. Intro to Ethnic Studies Communication Skills Introduction to Chicana and Chicano Studies This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

Requirements

  • Candidates for introductory courses (100- or 200- level) must have at least a Master’s degree in the field relevant to the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies curriculum.
  • We require a Ph.D. or extensive professional experience for teaching upper-division courses (300- or 400- level).
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Cover Letter which includes a statement of which courses qualified to teach
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Copy of your unofficial transcripts conferring your highest terminal degree
  • A list of three (3) references with contact information
  • Sample of course syllabi (if available)
  • Teaching Evaluations (if available)

  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and strong teaching evidence.
  • Highly desirable is a candidate who can work effectively with a broad mix of students, including those with diverse cultural backgrounds, and varying socioeconomic and family college-going experiences.
  • Preference will also be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Intro to Ethnic Studies, Communication Skills, and Introduction to Chicana and Chicano Studies
  • Interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students
  • Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070.
  • These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments.
  • And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
