About The Position

The Agricultural Analytical Services Laboratory (AASL) in the College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Part-Time IT Applications Specialist to support the development and maintenance of custom applications that enable laboratory operations and administrative workflows. This position will design, update, and maintain lightweight, user-friendly tools such as chemical inventory systems, purchasing request workflows, sample submission tools, and data management utilities, using platforms such as AppSheet, FileMaker, and Microsoft Excel. This is a 100% remote position requiring approximately 10–20 hours per month, with flexible scheduling.

Requirements

  • Experience developing custom applications or workflow tools
  • Proficiency with AppSheet, FileMaker, Excel, or similar platforms
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with non-technical users

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting laboratory or scientific environments
  • Familiarity with database concepts, automation, and data security best practices

Responsibilities
