About The Position

Serve as a staff accompanist in instrumental (primarily) and vocal studios, as well as additional duties to be assigned (such as public performances, accompanying recitals, studio classes, and juries.) One hour of accompanying is equivalent to approximately one workload hour. Essential Functions Statement(s) Serve as a staff accompanist in the Institute of Music. Hours outside of lessons and coaching will be necessary to practice and prepare repertoire for meetings with students. Maintain a high level of professional competence for the duties of this position, including attendance at appropriate meetings for continued professional development, as well as performance as appropriate both within and outside of the University community. Must be available for Tuesday evening choir rehearsal (7-9pm) at DePauw. Will likely be needed on Mondays and for up to three days per week on campus. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required.
  • Prior experience in performance and collaborative piano desired.
  • Basic: Ability to read, listen to and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write and communicate simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • General working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Google applications.
  • Extensive organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Familiar with and adaptable to a variety of musical styles.
  • Ability to work flexible hours. Must be available on some nights and weekends during IOM events.
