About The Position

The City of Paragould is currently accepting applications for PARKS MAINTENANCE / ALL PARKS Position Description: Exempt: No Classification: Non-Safety - Sensitive Department: Parks & Recreation Department Reports To: Parks Maintenance #1 Location: Reynold's Park GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION This position is a manual labor position. Work involves performing landscape maintenance and parks facilities maintenance tasks.

Requirements

Some knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance.
Skill in the operation of the listed tools and equipment.
Ability to lift heavy objects, and perform manual labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
Ability to perform minor maintenance on parks equipment, building and structures.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
May be required to supervise seasonal employees.
At least one (1) year of experience performing manual labor and at least one (1) year of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.

Must possess a valid Arkansas Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.

Responsibilities

Constructs, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on Parks and Recreation Department equipment, buildings and structures.
Performs landscaping maintenance duties such as moving and spreading dirt, sodding bare areas, and cutting and removing trees.
Performs pool / splash pad maintenance including draining, cleaning and painting as needed; repair pump system and piping; maintain the well, pump house.
Constructs and anchors forms for concrete work; mixes and pours concrete for projects; smooths and levels concrete surfaces.
Prepares and maintains ball fields / soccer fields for play.
Responsible for litter removal and janitorial duties within park grounds, parking lots, and inside park facilities.
Repairs and replaces benches and signs in the parks.
Mixes and applies chemical agents, including fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and pesticides.
Operates tractor mounted mowing equipment to cut grass and other hand and power tools such as push mower, edger, line trimmer, blowers, etc., to perform lawn and grounds maintenance duties.
Operates trucks and trailers to move equipment and materials.
Performs minor repair on equipment, such as replacing blades, belts, and filters.
Installs and maintains park and playground equipment.
Repairs, cleans and installs equipment at special events, such as tents and stages and at seasonal use facilities and structures, such as swimming pools and ball fields.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
