About The Position

The General Purpose of a Parks Maintenance Worker is to serve in an entry-level capacity that will be responsible for the physical upkeep, repair, and beautification of County-owned grounds and facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insured; must be able to drive in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, walk long distances, climb ladders, and work in extreme heat or cold.
  • Basic computer skills (Word/Excel) and the ability to read equipment manuals and MSDS sheets.
  • Must pass a drug-screening test.

Responsibilities

  • Mowing, edging, planting, mulching, and irrigation system repair.
  • Repairing picnic tables, playground structures, and fences; performing minor electrical (changing bulbs) and plumbing tasks.
  • Operating tractors, commercial mowers, snow blowers, and trucks with plow blades.
  • Cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, and interior/exterior painting/patching of County buildings.
  • Changing oil/filters, sharpening blades, and pressure washing equipment.
