About The Position

Who We Are UT Parking and Transportation Services is responsible for the management of over 17,000 parking spaces on campus, including 12 parking garages and more than 50 surface parking lots. Our operations include the distribution and regulation of daily, permitted, and event parking, as well as the maintenance of parking lots and garages. We also provide assistance to those parked on or traveling through campus. This assistance includes jump-starts and opening vehicles for those locked out. Purpose Provides university parking services by enforcing university rules and regulations. Assist the public with information, such as directions to buildings and offices.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Minimum one year experience working with the public or in a direct customer service role.
  • Must be a strong team player and possess good communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and make good decisions.
  • Experience completing reports, maintaining database records, and maintaining files.
  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Must demonstrate professional demeanor, show attention to detail, and display punctual, dependable attendance.
  • Must have clean driving record at time of hire and always maintain an acceptable driver rating.
  • Must be eligible to operate a university vehicle under UTDRIVERS qualifications.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years working in a direct customer service function, or in a position with high public contact.
  • Extreme patience in stressful situations.
  • Previous experience as a ticket writer or security guard.
  • Familiarity with the use of a tablet.
  • Previous experience in a university parking enforcement operation.
  • Experience with T2 software.
  • Experience with license plate recognition (LPR) systems.

Responsibilities

  • All Parking Enforcement Officers (PEOs) perform a combination of functions: issues citations across main and remote campus, acts as kiosk guard as directed, provides battery jumps and key assists (LAAP), and boot truck/university vehicle use.
  • Will traverse a geographical area (district) by walking, bicycle, cart, or motorized vehicle while issuing citations or warnings.
  • Articulates directional information and location of buildings and offices to visitors.
  • Installs and removes immobilization devices.
  • Provides key and battery assists.
  • Takes lot counts as directed.
  • Supports the Events staff by delivering, setting up, and taking down cones, barricades, signs, and sign covers.
  • Will walk and lift immobilization devices, stacks of parking cones, and impound scooters weighing approximately 30 pounds continuously throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Writes incident and campus condition reports, and conveys to supervisor and/or management.
  • Reports all irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activity to the University Police Department.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, comp and overtime hours required as needed.
  • Must work a minimum of two home football games every year in addition to every other Thanksgiving week and/or playoff home football game.
