About The Position

The Mow Crew Leader performs, plans, directs, and supervises all aspects of the Park District mowing operation which includes mowing, trimming, edging along with spring and fall cleanups. They coordinate the day-to-day duties of 3 full-time mow crew staff and up to 5 seasonal staff. The position reports to the Landscape Supervisor and works closely with them on recommendations for mowing operations including schedules, routes, staffing and equipment needs. Other duties include seasonal turf maintenance, park inspections, tree removals and pruning, pesticide applications, mulching, parking lot repair, snow removal, trash collection, special events, and general park maintenance.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years’ experience in landscape maintenance with increasing supervisory experience and a strong understanding of associated equipment is preferred.
  • Assertive attitude, well organized self-starter and ability to work and supervise independently.
  • A State of Illinois Pesticide Operator’s License and Class “C” driver’s license are required within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Small engine diagnostic/repair experience preferred.
