Summary Statement Several seasonal park maintenance positions are available at Alapocas Run/Wilmington State Parks: Park Maintenance, $15.75 – responsible for the maintenance of grounds, facilities and equipment in a park or a recreation area. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs. Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience using landscaping equipment and hand or power tools.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Responsibilities
- Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, athletic field maintenance, landscape bed maintenance, trash removal, vegetation removal, leaf removal and snow/ice removal.
- Performs custodial services in restrooms, offices and other buildings.
- Operates landscaping equipment and use of hand and power tools.
- Sets-up monitor and becoming clean-up support for park programs and special events.
- Maintains good public relations with park visitors and staff.
- Maintains gardens and landscaped areas of the park which includes plant installation and removal, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching, pruning, and applying pesticides.
- Understand and follow best management practices for handling, mixing, and applying pesticides.
- Provides excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
