About The Position

The Parent Educator will assure the implementation of the Parents-as-teachers model and Foundational Curriculum in culturally sensitive ways while emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being in their work with families. Additionally, provides home-based intervention services, referral, and coordination of activities for overburdened parents with children under the age of five, children with special healthcare needs, and prenatal women and their families.

Requirements

  • Preferred but not required; Bachelor's degree in childhood development, education, family life education, psychology, social work, counseling or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of direct family support services and direct family visitation supervision preferred.
  • Proof of COVID immunization.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to access community resources including public behavioral health services and experience working with complex multi-problem families.
  • Provides own transportation to and from clients' homes and/or other relevant organizations/agencies.
  • Must be able to meet training and agency requirements for the position.

  • Must possess or be able to qualify for and maintain a valid Arizona department of public safety level one fingerprint clearance card.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and be insurable under the agency's automobile policy.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential/sensitive information, including client's files.
  • Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management skills and the ability to prioritize workloads.
  • Understands, ensures, and complies with the contractual agreements and reporting requirements of the Parents as Teachers Program while supporting the organization's strategic plan.
  • Engages in community outreach activities.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite computer applications, aptitude for learning computer software applications, and the ability to instruct others in the use of various software applications.
  • Assesses physical, emotional, social, and environmental needs of parents and their families.
  • Consults and collaborates with other professionals involved in providing services to parents and their families.
  • Assists parents and their families in establishing goals, training, and outcomes by providing education, support, and referral resources.
  • Participates in daily activities essential to the completion of program objectives: family assessment, home-based family support, parental skills training, case coordination, case plan development, and documentation of services.
  • Conducts and offers support home visits to continually assess family's needs and promotes positive parenting skills.
  • Observes and documents client's parenting skills and provides coaching to increase parent information and skill level.
