About The Position

UCP of Central Florida is an innovative and dynamic non-profit agency dedicated to unlocking the potential of thousands of children each year through campuses, pediatric therapy clinics, and parent support programs. The Paraprofessional provides instructional support in a K-12th grade classroom for students with and without disabilities, and is also responsible for leading the classroom in the event of a teacher's absence. UCP's mission is to empower children of all abilities by providing individualized support, education, and therapy services in an inclusive environment. The organization has been enriching the lives of children for over 70 years across 8 campuses in Central Florida, including Downtown Orlando, East Orlando (near UCF), Kissimmee, Pine Hills, Lake Mary, and Winter Garden.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree (or equivalent college credits) in education or a related field.
  • If related field – minimum of 6 Education credit OR Score of 464 or higher on the ETS Parapro test.
  • Experience working in a K-12th grade classroom.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children with and without special needs in a multi-disciplinary education setting.
  • Experience working with instructional technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implements lessons plan including instructional groups per teacher’s direction.
  • Assists in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for classroom.
  • Assist in administering assessments/progress monitoring.
  • Works with the teacher in documenting academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
  • Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques and data collection.
  • Perform teacher duties in his/her absence.
  • Keep up on best and promising practices for education (i.e., attending professional development, participating in book studies, etc.)
  • Provide caretaking/housekeeping duties as needed (i.e., changing of students, keeping classroom clean)
  • Maintain positive staff and parent interactions and communication.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings and events.
  • Ensure administration is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
