About The Position

Ivy Academy is a public charter school dedicated to experiential learning, environmental stewardship, and academic excellence. Our mission is to empower students through hands-on, inquiry-based education that connects learning to the real world. We are seeking a passionate and hands-on Agriculture Teacher to serve both middle and high school students. This educator will lead engaging courses that may include agricultural science, sustainability, food systems, and stewardship. he ideal candidate is excited about getting students outdoors, working with real-world systems, and helping them understand where food comes from and how humans interact with the environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Education, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Valid teaching license (or eligibility for licensure in Tennessee)
  • Knowledge of agricultural practices, sustainability, or environmental systems
  • Experience with hands-on, project-based, or outdoor learning preferred
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned agriculture curriculum for MS/HS students
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences such as gardening, farming, and sustainability projects
  • Integrate environmental science, food systems, and real-world applications into instruction
  • Maintain and utilize school-based agricultural spaces (gardens, greenhouses, outdoor labs, etc.)
  • Promote student leadership opportunities (e.g., projects, competitions, community partnerships)
  • Assess student learning and use data to inform instruction
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Collaborate with staff to create interdisciplinary learning experiences
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues
