About The Position

Lake Huron Medical Center is a 139-bed community hospital that provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient health care services to residents of St. Clair and Sanilac counties, including emergency services, primary stroke center, cancer care, surgical services, physical therapy and rehabilitation services, pulmonary rehabilitation, and specialized diabetes programs. The paramedic in the Emergency Department is directly accountable for the care given to patients. This role involves communicating with physicians about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptomatology, and responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or treatment response. The paramedic must also be knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and the reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies.

Requirements

  • Current and valid paramedic license issued by the State of Michigan
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • ACLS 90 days upon hire and maintain current
  • PALS and/or ENPC required 90 days upon hire and maintain current

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year as a paramedic in an EMS or acute care hospital preferred

Responsibilities

  • Directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department
  • Communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology
  • Responds quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment
  • Knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned
