About The Position

Join Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, a Magnet Hospital and Level II Trauma Center, as an Emergency Department Paramedic. In this role, you will provide immediate medical treatment, including advanced life support, to patients experiencing emergencies, critical injuries, illnesses, and other concerns. The position requires fast thinking and processing to improve patient outcomes. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting with various patient care duties in a dynamic emergency setting.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program
  • Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department
  • Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program

Nice To Haves

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
  • One year of experience as an EMT-P

Responsibilities

  • Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning
  • Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks
  • Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes
  • Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints
  • Size crutches and teach crutch walking
  • Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
  • Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices
  • Transport patients and specimens
  • Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for patient privacy
  • Perform fluid/drug administration
