As a Paramedic in the Emergency Department, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. A caregiver in this position works varying days from 11:00AM – 11:30PM.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program
  • Current Florida licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department
  • Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training program

Nice To Haves

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
  • Current Valid Driver’s License (VDL)
  • One year of experience as an EMT or Paramedic

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate medical treatment to injured or ill patients on-site and/or during transport to hospital
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Assess nature and extent of illness/injury and patient history from available sources.
  • Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response.
  • Administer appropriate emergency medical care, including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, obtaining EKG readings and vital statistics monitoring.
  • Perform fluid/drug administration as needed.
  • Communicate with medical personnel at hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital if on the Transport Team.
  • Navigate Ambulance to scene of accident in response to emergency call, if on the Transport Team.
