About The Position

SSL Law Firm LLP, a premier real estate law firm with offices in San Francisco and San Rafael, is seeking an experienced real estate paralegal with deep experience in purchase and sale transactions to join our dynamic team. This position involves working with our transaction real estate team in drafting documents for purchase and sales transactions which include escrow instructions, estoppels certificates, tenant notices, closing documents and corporate authority documents. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of commercial real estate transactions, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program
  • Minimum of seven (7) years with proven ability to handle all support aspects of a commercial real estate transaction including, title/survey review, due diligence, document drafting, and closing/post-closing procedures
  • Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and maintain organized files for multiple transactions
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills and ability to pay very close attention to detail in an efficient manner
  • Ability to deal professionally and communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing with internal and external clients on all levels
  • Solid understanding of title insurance coverage, policies, forms and endorsements
  • Ability to work independently
  • Extensive knowledge of real estate terminology and a thorough understanding of the commercial transactional process
  • Strong technical skills using Microsoft Word and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Review and analysis of title reports, title exceptions and surveys, discuss issues with the attorneys, prepare title review memoranda and title objection letters.
  • Order, review and negotiate surveys, request and finalize revisions to surveys with surveyors.
  • Request and negotiate pro forma title insurance policies directly with title companies and underwriters.
  • Assist in various due diligence matters related to the transaction.
  • Prepare and update due diligence, critical dates and closing checklists to track on-going transactions and keep attorneys informed of upcoming deadlines during the course of the transaction.
  • Review and assist with drafting of real estate documents, including closing documents.
  • Draft escrow instructions
  • Coordinate closing directly with attorneys, clients, lenders, and escrow/title officers.
  • Prepare draft transactional documents, including amendments to agreements or leases, tenant notice letters, estoppel certificates and similar documents.
  • Review organizational and authority documents and prepare corporate authorization documents.
  • Order litigation, UCC Lien and other searches.
  • Prepare closing binders.
