This is a 6.5 hours per day, 180 days per year, Paraeducator position with benefits at Lake Stickney Elementary School. Anticipated start date is as soon as possible. Hours for this position are 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Includes 30 minutes of unpaid time) The successful candidate will work under the direction of the teacher in the classroom with students that have challenging behaviors. Duties include supervising students during breakfast, lunch, recess, and dismissal. The role also involves providing small-group or one-to-one academic and social skills support for students receiving special education services, as well as supervising students during afternoon dismissal, including walking groups and the bus loop. JOB SUMMARY: Assist the teacher with planning, preparation and delivery of a quality instructional program based upon state standards, district curriculum, and effective instruction for students with diverse learning needs. Supervise students at recess, in the cafeteria, library, assistance for students riding the bus, and perform crossing guard duties before and after school. May assist with implementation of special education services for students i.e., IEP goals, medical assistance, physical support and personal care.
