About The Position

Paint Specialist assist customers in selecting the right type of paint and colors, anywhere from stock or custom colors. The Paint Specialist will provide a positive and professional customer service also being able to answer any questions and concerns about their projects. The Paint Specialist will also assist in these duties: receiving freight, stocking shelves in store and warehouse, pricing of merchandise and help maintain a clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall department cleanliness. Operating company vehicle to do color matching at shops is part of this position: All Paint Specialist must have a clean driver abstract.

Requirements

  • Driving is essential to the position, must keep a current driver's license with a clean driver’s abstract.

  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatoiy agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometiy.

  • Forklift Certification: Complete and obtain Forklift Certification within three (3) months from the first day of employment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds with the assistant of safety gears, equipment, or PPE, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with the assistant of safety gears, equipment, or PPE. Rarely lift up to 100 pounds, requiring assistance from PPE, tools and equipment for items over 60 pounds.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes back brace, hand, head, foot, eye, face, and body protection. Goggles/eye protection, gloves, ear plugs, and back brace are provided by the organization and must always be included in their toolbox or workstation. PPE approved clothing/uniform and footwear, closed-toe, steel toes and slip-resistant soles, must be worn at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with generating clients and sales.
  • Communicating with customers regarding sales in the paint department either walk-ins or by phone.
  • Tending to paint-mixing machines and knowledge of operating measuring scales to mix paint.
  • Knowledge of setting up new mixing machines and equipment and repairing equipment when needed.
  • Staying focused while mixing to assure accurate mixes and preventing waste of products.
  • Being able to operate all color match equipment from computer, color match camera, color swatches and books.
  • Being able to solve any paint issues that customers have and provide customer with correct information to fix the problem.
  • Assist in placing stock orders for store and data entry.
  • Understanding the theory of color match and color adjustment.
  • Assisting in shop visits to help generate new business and promote new equipment and specials.
  • Being able to perform paint repairs on vehicles at shops that's experiencing a problem that they can't solve.
  • Assisting in organizing paint or product clinics for students and industry.
  • Assisting in twice a year inventory.
  • Complying with company safety rules and policy:
  • Always following the company's safety guidelines when working and operating equipment in the mixing booth.
  • Completes and remains current with all mandatory manufacturing, Safety Compliance, and Safeguard training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
